Nest
It's been a long couple weeks of birthday celebrations and concerts. Thanks to all my friends and family. I love you all. But now it's time to get back to work. Here's a little preview of the next painting. It's 48"x60" and it's titled "Nest".

RECYCLE!!
I got the chance to contribute to this pretty cool recycling project last week. There are going to be recycle bins painted by various artists and displayed at Coachella this weekend and I got to paint one. I wanted to do something that resembled my work, but it was tough. The surface was really hard to get paint to stick to and the canvas was huge. But it came out ok. Here she is:

Ovation TV
I got this little spot on Ovation TV recently with Yoskay Yamamoto. It's pretty cool. Check it out.

Atmosphere Colab #2
I joined in on yet another live paint/colab at Atmosphere last weekend. It was just me, Asia, and Scotty B but it was a lot of fun and I think it came out pretty cool. This is the only picture I have and it's not too good. I'll post more if I can get some. Thanks to everyone who came out to watch.

Do it yourself...
I've always wanted to try making my own canvas. I think it adds so much more value and heart to a painting, knowing that you built the entire piece of art all by yourself. Also, its cheaper. :). So here's a little step by step of my very first attempt at making a canvas. I'm really excited to get painting on it.

long weekend

This past weekend was pretty eventful. First, there was the opening for the color blind show with Ken Garduno and Tom Haubrick on Saturday.

It turned out to be a really good show. I've already said on here that Ken and Tom's work looked amazing, but seeing it all up on the wall was even better. If you get a chance, head over to project gallery in culver city and check it out. Or see if you have to, see it online at project's website.

My little guy was tucked in the corner, overshadowed by Tom's awesome drawings. I was excited to see that it was sold when I got there. I wish I had arrived earlier so I could have met the people who bought it.

The other painters in the show ended up turning in some really awesome work as well. I forget who painted that one on the left below, but it was ridiculous. It was 2 paintings sliced and mounted so that you could see them at different angles. Even the shadow it cast was cool. Yuta's work is on the right. His was pretty badass as well.

Yoskay's piece was also pretty sick.

To top the show off, I lactated a bit and called it a night.
Sunday we made the long haul down to my home town to see Barry Mcgee's opening at the Riverside Art Museum. I love that they refer to themselves as RAM.

They weren't open when we got there, so we had to put the day on pause and have a few beers across the street. Lucky for us, Sundays at Raxx have an all day happy hour and the best fries I've ever tasted.

I really enjoyed the work in the show but I was a little dissapointed that it was so dead. There wasn't too big of a turn out and the atmosphere was a little uncomfortable.

If you get a chance though, check it out. The work is pretty great, as you can probably expect.
